Jeremy Woolf
CEO, First Domino Marketing
Senior B2B Brand Strategist and Fractional CMO
I work with B2B technology and professional services companies that need to get clearer about what they sell, why buyers should care, and what marketing should do next.
Most of my work starts with positioning and messaging, buyer and market research, or a specific commercial problem. From there, it often carries into website direction, sales narrative, GTM planning, proof development, and hands-on marketing support.
I’m based in the Austin area and lead First Domino Marketing.
What I work on
My current work falls into four areas:
Fractional CMO
Senior marketing leadership for companies that need experienced judgment and practical support without adding a full-time CMO.
Positioning and Messaging
Defining what a company sells, who it is for, what makes it credible, and how to explain that in language buyers and sales teams can actually use.
Market and Category Strategy
Understanding how buyers compare options, what competitors already claim, and where there is a credible position worth owning.
GTM Planning and Execution
Turning the strategy into priorities, pages, campaigns, sales materials, content, and a plan the team can run.
I also work on buyer research, value propositions, competitive analysis, websites, sales narratives, case studies, and proof development when those are part of the problem.
First Domino Marketing
I started Jeremy Woolf Consulting in 2018.
First Domino Marketing launched in January 2023 as the public-facing DBA of Jeremy Woolf Consulting LLC.
FDM is a fractional CMO and brand strategy practice for B2B technology and professional services companies. I run the practice and bring in specialist partners when a project needs additional design, research, development, or production support.
The work is usually for founder-led, sales-led, or lean marketing teams with plenty happening already, but a story, priority, proof, or execution problem that is getting in the way.
Experience
I bring 30+ years of B2B marketing, brand, communications, and business-development experience.
My career has included enterprise technology, global agencies, startups, and growth-stage businesses. I’ve worked with or for companies including IBM, Cisco, Deloitte, KPMG, Lenovo, and Microsoft-related agency accounts, as well as smaller technology businesses where the marketing problem is usually much closer to the founder, product, and sales team.
Before FDM, my agency career included leadership roles at Text100 (now Archetype), Method Communications, and WE Communications.
My consulting and fractional work has included companies such as RingRx, CRMBC, Waites, bipp Analytics, CTG, Datamam, VistaTrac, StatusPal, and Corban OneSource.
I wrote a chapter for Christer Holloman’s The Social Media MBA: Your Competitive Edge in Social Media Strategy Development and Delivery, and was quoted in the second edition of David Meerman Scott’s The New Rules of Marketing & PR.
I’ve also contributed to industry conversations through The Hard Corps Marketing Show and RevOps 500.
How I work
I tend to start with evidence before writing the answer.
That means looking at three things: what the company can credibly deliver, what buyers actually care about, and what else those buyers could choose.
I’ve turned that into a simple Value Proposition Research Model you can use before a positioning or value proposition exercise.
The useful answer is usually somewhere in the overlap, and sometimes in the disagreement.
From there, I try to turn the decision into something usable: a message, a page, a sales story, a GTM plan, a case study, or a set of priorities with owners and dates.
